Trump just signed a bill that rips health care away from millions, slashes food aid, and hands the savings to the rich through tax breaks. It is unpopular, regressive, and brutally clear about who this government works for.
Throughout his first term in office, Trump kept promising that a health care plan was coming in “two weeks.” He said it so often it became a punchline. Like everything else he’s ever said, it was a lie.
And so, on July 4th, Independence Day, beneath a staged display of patriotic pageantry on the South Lawn of the White House and with military jets overhead, Trump signed into law the health care plan he spent years claiming was just weeks away. Officially titled the Big Beautiful Bill, the legislation is not intended to expand care or to reduce costs. It is a deliberate effort to dismantle the nation’s public health care infrastructure while cloaking its intent in the language of reform. The theatrical performance was grand. The consequences will be fucking devastating.
At the signing, Trump proclaimed
“I’ve never seen people so happy in our country because of that, because so many different groups of people are being taken care of.”
That statement is untrue, insulting, and downright cruel. According to the Congressional Budget Office, more than 11 million Americans are expected to lose health insurance as a direct result of this legislation. Medicaid recipients will now be forced to prove eligibility every six months under new verification rules designed to create procedural failure. Miss a letter, a form, or a phone call and your coverage vanishes. The law also imposes a national work requirement. Adults aged 19 to 64 must report 80 hours a month of work, job training, or volunteering to keep their benefits. There are no exceptions for caregivers, gig workers, or people with unstable schedules. The goal is to knock people off the rolls and make them feel like it was their fault. Do you understand the gravity and magnitude of being made to feel like a failure? This is cruelty by design.
The bill cuts 186 billion dollars from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) over the next ten years. States will be penalized for minor administrative errors which will lead to aggressive disenrollment. Families will lose food benefits not because they are no longer eligible but because the system will be too punitive to navigate. Children will go to school hungry. Elderly people will skip meals. That is what the law was written to do. America is going to starve our most vulnerable deserving people while the billionaire oligarchy will feast on caviar.
It also guts federal education support. Because why not have US go hungry and dumb US down all in one fell swoop. Pell Grant eligibility is narrowed. Subsidized loans are reduced. Poor students will find it harder to stay in college.
Meanwhile the bill boosts funding for immigration enforcement and ICE. In this legislation surveillance grows and education shrinks. That contrast is its feature. The evil is exposed.
And while all of this is marketed as fiscal responsibility the bill adds over 3.3 trillion dollars to the national debt over the next decade! The cuts do not reduce spending. This is simply a redirect of public money in the largest wealth transfer in history from those who need it the most to those who need it the least, but greedily want it the most. It is austerity for the poor and abundance for the rich.
There never was a secret alternative plan. This was always the plan. Project 2025 made it perfectly clear. MSM didn’t counteract Trump’s BS enough when he said everyone would be covered and he would protect Medicaid. Today his lies became law.
Let’s also be extra super clear that this Big Bullshit Bill is more than legislation. It is an ideological weapon. It reflects a governing vision grounded in white Christian Nationalism where power is consolidated through punishment and exclusion. The callous indifference and brutality are premeditated. This is not accidental and the fallout will be fatal. People will lose health care, food, livelihoods, and some will lose their lives. There will be a reckoning. If not in this moment then in the one that comes after. History has a long memory.
We must not let this moment fade into forgetfulness. We must present these facts to all Americans and first time voters. As we approach the midterms, it is essential to highlight the suffering that this bill will cause and hold accountable those who voted against our collective interest. Our memory of this betrayal should fuel our determination at the ballot box and to vote out those who have sold our nation’s well being and to reclaim a government that truly stands for all its citizens.
Fuck Donald Trump. Fuck everyone who voted for his Big Beautiful Bullshit Bill. And fuck every one of you who voted for him. I mean that sincerely.

I feel sick. I mean this in the most literal sense. I can go on and on and on but I won’t. I’m worried for myself. My family. And everyone I care for. I’m worried for America. This POS has every intent to turn this country in to something it’s not - something it’s never been. Something like…Russia. I find it hard to believe that anybody could buy in to this. And so they have. And here we are.
It is all so infuriating. And with frustration, I co-sign in full on your concluding paragraph.
